Trip to Gozo - Malta´s sister Island

Gozo is more rural and smaller than Malta. Steeped in myth, Gozo is thought to be a legendary Calypso´s isle of Homer´s Odyssey - a peaceful mystical backwater. Gozo like as Malta, has a lot of historical sites and natural beauties, spectacular coastline. It is great place for swimming and diving. In all three islands diving is very popular.
From Bugibba to Cirkewwa is 40 - 45 minutes by bus. There is a lot of people going to Gozo. I do not know how this is going in summer. Air condition works full !!! Buses are automatic and go very slowly up to hill.

We take a ferry from Cirkewwa to Gozo. The return ticket is cheap - 4,5 €! It takes around 20 minutes. And then we started a journey around Gozo. First, we went to Victoria/Rabat, then to Dwejra and at the end to Rambla Bay.

British telephone booth - It was in 1880 that Malta voluntary become part of British Empire. The British took over Malta and transformed the island into a Naval base.After 100 years of British rule, in 1974 Malta became a Republic. Now there is so many things around that bear traces of their influence on country.

Pastizzi - Malta´s national snack. Delicious! Flaky pastry which encloses different fillings, the most common being peas and ricotta chesse. Njaaaam njaaam :) You can get it in every pastizzeri :)

Qassatat - pastry filled with ricotta cheese or spinach, tuna and tomato.

Citadella - is on a UNESCO World Heritage Sites

Maltese landscape is full of fields.

Azzure Window - natural beauty. Formation, which was created after two limestone sea cave collapsed in 2012, is popular with scuba divers. It is one of the most popular tourist destination in Malta.

Fungus Rock - 65 meters high rock. On rock is rare plant known as Malta Fungus. Because of the importance of this plant, the Knights blocked access to the rock by smoothing the cliff sides and placed a guarded it against intruders.

Having fun in Rambla Bay :) :) The real sandy beach in Gozo.

On the top you can see Calypso Cave. This site is thought to be the same cave Homer mentioned in The Odyssey where Calypso (the beautiful nymph) kept Odysseus as a prisoner of love for seven years.
